Capistrano Unified School District
Capistrano Unified School District (San Juan Capistrano, CA) tested Dipetane for the 4-month period ending April, 30 2004, which the district used to treat its diesel fuel tanks located in its 2 maintenance yards. These tanks fuel the district’s approximately 200 school buses, which are used in daily service transporting pupils to and from school.
Prior to the test period, maintenance officials established the October through December 2003 operating period as a baseline. During the baseline period, the district used 84,601 gallons of diesel fuel to cover 575,505 miles of transportation. That results in a fuel economy of 6.8 miles per gallon.
The month of January was not included in the calculations as it was considered a clean-up period during which Dipetane conditioned the engines of the fleet. The fuel consumption for the 3-month treatment period was 82,564 gallons of diesel fuel, which provided 637,832 of transportation miles. Fuel economy was 7.7 miles per gallon. Calculated as a percentage, the MPG figure is resulting in a 13.6% improvement in fuel economy.
As projected, the District can reduce total fuel costs (including the cost of Dipetane) by 10% which is projected to improve the annual Transportation Department budget by nearly $60,000. In addition, we know that the emissions have been reduced in the exhaust.
Although fuel prices have risen, these school districts have seen as much as a 15% reduction in their costs of fuel compared to those not using Dipetane.

Combustion Technologies (West) LLC performed an audit on the fueling of the fleet of US Foodservice trucks servicing the Los Angeles region.
We received the daily fuel records for the entire fleet of US Foodstrucks servicing the Los Angeles region. The fuel records were maintained by an outside monitoring organization. Of the total 106 units, 62 units had regular operational fueling performed during the review period. These 62 units were the participants in the audit.
The fuel was supplied to the subject’s underground fuel tanks and dispensed at the subjects maintenance yard. Fuel records were maintained and accumulated by an independent fuel record keeping company based on the manual input provided by the fuelers at each fueling.
Review period was for the weeks ending May 5, 2001 through February 2, 2002.
During the 16 week baseline period, the fleet operated on commercially available diesel supplied by various outside fuel suppliers basically chosen for competitive fuel cost.
During the remaining 24 weeks, the fleet operated on commercially available fuel supplied by various outside fuel suppliers basically chosen for competitive fuel cost treated with Dipetane. The subject underground tank was treated with Dipetane at a rate of 1:200. Initially all of the trucks were individually treated. At each bulk fuel delivery, the underground tank was treated with a Dipetane dosage corresponding to the amount of fuel added. Except for the initial tank and truck treatment, all Dipetane treating was performed by subjects fueling personnel.
During the 16 week baseline period, the fleet averaged 5.0 miles per gallon. During the treatment period, a distinction became apparent at week 10 with a distinct increase of fuel economy. The initial nine week period of treatment has been divided up as the clean-up period. The remaining 15 weeks reflect full benefit of Dipetane.

After establishing a mileage baseline on 19 company owned trucks during weeks 1-5, Dipetane Fuel Technology was added to Windward’s bulk fuel storage tanks at a ratio of 1:200 as per manufacturer’s blending specification. All subsequent fuel deliveries during the testing period were treated with Dipetane at the same blending level during weeks 628. Data was collected, by Windward, on a monthly basis to include total fuel consumed and miles driven by each individual truck for the entire test period. Results were reported via documentation provided by Windward Petroleum.
Windward Petroleum has completed a 28 week fuel economy study utilizing Dipetane Fuel Technology. Windward found a 14% increase in fuel economy.
In a study of 19 diesel over-the-road company owned delivery trucks, the actual amount of fuel and miles driven were recorded at each fueling. The fleet averaged 6.23 miles per gallon at the outset of the study period. Fuel performance increased to an average of 7.07 miles per gallon by the end of the study period. To put these results into perspective, the 14% savings is equivalent to fueling 1 in 7 of the company’s trucks for free, or getting free fuel for 4 weeks of the 28 week test period.
The test results were calculated and reported by Windward Petroleum staff, which monitored the performance of the trucks throughout the study period. During the early portion of the study, performance improvement was less dynamic, however by the latter half, the improvement was well demonstrated.
